Lamborghini Stalwarts Lewis, Mitchell Complete Peregrine Racing Endurance Lineup for Rolex 24 at DAYTONA

San Jose, Calif. (January 12, 2022) — Veteran Lamborghini Development Driver Corey Lewis, and recently appointed Lamborghini Factory Driver Sandy Mitchell, will complete Peregrine Racing with Carbahn Motorsports’ endurance lineup behind the wheel of their No. 39 Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO for the 60th running of the Rolex 24 at DAYTONA in 2022. Alongside full season pilots Jeff Westphal and Robert Megennis, the addition of two drivers that possess proven pace and extensive experience with the team’s new platform will help Peregrine optimize track time in the opening round of their first full season of IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship competition. Lewis will also complete the lineup for the three additional Michelin Endurance Cup races in 2022.

The 30-year-old American Lamborghini veteran, Corey Lewis, who currently holds a role as a Development Driver and helped develop the Huracán GT3 EVO platform, has been racing and winning in Lamborghini GT cars since 2014. Over the past eight seasons, he has contested races with Lamborghini in IMSA, SRO, Lamborghini Super Trofeo (both Europe and North America) and the Asian Le Mans Series.

In 2021, Lewis ran a Huracán GT3 EVO in the IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup and SRO, winning twice and scoring 11 podiums in the latter’s Pro Cup category during a runner-up campaign. Additional career highlights include winning the GTD class at the Rolex 24 in 2020 on his way to the GTD Endurance Cup Championship, winning the GTD class at the Mobile 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring in 2018, and three consecutive LST North America championships between 2018 and 2020.

“I am very excited to be driving for Peregrine Racing for all the Michelin Endurance Cup rounds of the IMSA Championship,” said Lewis. “The team had a strong debut season last year and I expect more of the same in the future.

“I really believe we have a strong driver pairing that can get the job done throughout the year! I am ready to hit the ground running with Jeff, Rob and Sandy at Daytona in just a few short weeks!”

Hailing from Scotland, Sandy Mitchell arrives with Peregrine as a full Lamborghini Factory Driver. Mitchell is a former Lamborghini Youngster Programme member, former Squadra Corse GT3 Junior, and became the youngest ever overall champion in British GT3 history in 2020.

At 21 years of age, he’s been driving sports cars since 2016 and already achieved considerable success. Prior to his 2020 British GT3 title, he won races in the LST North America PRO class in 2019, including a win at the LST World Finals, and won in the Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup in 2018 and 2019.

"I'm super excited to be joining the No. 39 Carbahn with Peregrine Racing team,” said Mitchell. “The Rolex 24 at DAYTONA is a race that I've always wanted to compete in. I'm buzzing to be back racing in the States again and making my IMSA debut in this prestigious race.

“We feel we have a really solid, fast lineup. I can't wait to start working with the team at the Roar Before the Rolex 24 and push for a strong result on race day."

Peregrine’s balanced driver lineup, composed of a seasoned veteran duo in Westphal and Lewis and a pair of fast, young drivers in Megennis and Mitchell, looks poised for success at the Rolex 24 and beyond.

“We’re excited to be embarking on our first full WeatherTech season with Lamborghini as our partner,” said team owner Mark Siegel. “This is a major undertaking, but I’m confident that the last four years we have spent developing as a team will make us competitive from the get-go.

“We’re also thrilled to have Corey Lewis, a Lamborghini Development Driver, joining the Westphal/Megennis team for the endurance races, and Sandy Mitchell (a Lamborghini Factory Driver with Gold status) joining us at Daytona. Sandy and Corey bring a ton of experience and on-track success with the Huracán—this feels like a killer driver line up!”
