Peregrine Racing Debuts New BMW With Top Ten Finish

Indianapolis, IN. (Sep 26, 2023) - The CarBahn with Peregrine Racing team broke in their brand new BMW M4 GT4 last weekend at IMSA’s Battle on the Bricks with a ninth place finish for the No. 39 entry of Jeff Westphal, Sean McAlister, and Nolan Siegel. The No. 93 of Cameron Shields and Brady Golan were involved in an incident early on which saw them retire and finish in 27th position in class.

Returning to the famed Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the first time in almost a decade, the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge promised a unique challenge its drivers hadn’t faced all season: racing into the night. Golan and McAlister occupied the sixth row of the grid, qualifying 11th and 12th, respectively. After a strong start saw both cars settle into the race well, disaster struck for rookie Golan. While battling the No. 14 Ave Motorsports Toyota for position, Golan was hit from behind at Turn 12 after the Supra missed its brake point, irreparably breaking the rear suspension and ending the day for Golan and Shields.

Despite issues to its sister car, the No. 39 of McAlister continued to climb the scoring pylon in the first hour of the race, running in third position before handing off to Siegel, who had joined the team as an endurance driver for the second time this season, at the first full-course caution. Siegel retained the final podium position during his stint before ceding his spot in the cockpit to Westphal on Lap 57. Westphal continued to show the pace of his co-drivers, but ran into a setback on Lap 99 when contact with a slower TCR resulted in a drive through penalty, sending the No. 39 to the back of the lead lap. Westphal reminded everyone of his quality in the final hour, however, by putting in consistently fast laps to recover to a respectable ninth place finish and giving the team confidence for what is sure to be a competitive finale at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta.

The CarBahn with Peregrine Racing team will be back in action on October 13th for the Fox Factory 120 at Road Atlanta, part of the Petit Le Mans weekend.
