Peregrine Fight Through Pack for 11th Place in Canada

Bowmanville, Ontario (July 5, 2022) — Peregrine Racing’s Carbahn Motorsports prepped No. 93 Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport finished the Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (CTMP) 120 in 11th place this Saturday. Despite being a sprint race, it was a story of endurance for the Peregrine team, who weathered a number of factors to secure the solid finish.

Without a qualifying lap set, Mark Siegel started second to last on the grid, but carved his way past multiple GS class competitors before his first pitstop, doing well to avoid a multi-class clash ahead of him on Lap 10.

Siegel continued to make progress, but the team had to make an extra stop compared to the majority of the GS field due to a tire issue. They rallied in their final stint, with Pro driver Tyler McQuarrie navigating TCR traffic, and making a pass on the penultimate lap to bring the car home just outside of the top 10.

“We’ve had quite a difficult couple of races heading into CTMP," said team owner Sameer Gandhi. "This weekend was no different, presenting multiple challenges, but this team never stops. Mark and Tyler drove well. To go from practically last to eleventh, making some awesome moves on track—it was no mean feat. I must reiterate how impressive the team’s effort was to prepare the car for these back-to-back race weekends. It’s thanks to our crew that we’re out here competing! Now, we look to finish a few places higher at Lime Rock. It’s a track that should suit us.”

The 2022 season continues for Peregrine Racing in two weeks with the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge event at Lime Rock on July 15-16. Green flag for the Lime Rock Park 120 waves at 11:05 a.m. ET on Saturday, July 16. Full coverage can be streamed on Peacock.

INSIGHT FROM THE IMPC COCKPIT:

Tyler McQuarrie:
“Mark Siegel had a really good start and drove one of his best stints to date—definitely his longest stint. Unfortunately, we got a tire puncture so we had to do three stops total during the race. The car, overall, was really quick. We were running the same times as the leaders up front, but being a lap down, there was nothing we could really do and we ended up P11. I’m really happy with the team’s effort in getting the car to where it is today. We’re moving on to Lime Rock.”
